About ADML/eRead Illinois
The Galesburg Public Library offers two downloadable ebook platforms.
Alliance Digital Media Library
New titles are added twice a month. The service includes titles purchased by the group of libraries and thousands of titles in the public domain.
To check out items, you will need a valid Galesburg Public Library card, a computer or device, an Internet connection, and free software available on the ADML website. (Please note that items cannot be downloaded in the library.) Click here for a list of compatible devices.
At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the collection. There is a checkout limit. The ADML contains both ebooks and audiobooks.
Also, be sure to check out the Always Available e-books. The public domain titles do not count against checkout limits and never expire. If you hover over a public domain book cover, you will see more information about the title. You will need to download the free Adobe Digital Editions software to read the public domain titles.
Please let us know if there are additional titles you would like to see in the digital collection. You can fill out a suggestion form on the ADML site (log in to My Account and click on Suggest a Title) or email us at email@example.com.
Please note that your home library must be a participating library in order for you to download purchased titles. Click here to see a list of the libraries. If your library does not participate, please speak to your library staff about joining ADML. (You can check out public domain titles without a library card.)
