It’s summer, and that means it’s road trip time!
This year’s Summer Reading theme is ‘Read Beyond the Beaten Path’, and fits in just perfectly with road trips and other vacations. No matter how far you’re going, the Children’s Room can make sure you’ve got plenty to listen to and do in the car. We’ve got audiobooks. We’ve got Playaway Views. We’ve got Launchpads. We’ve got books on car games, national parks, camping, atlases so you don’t get lost, and so much more.
Audiobooks are a fantastic way to pass the time in the car, and we’ve definitely got you covered. Here in the Children’s Room, you can borrow one of our many Playaways. These pocket-sized MP3 players contain a complete audiobook. All you need is a pair of headphones or earbuds. Just plug them in and you’re good to go! We also have a number of audiobooks on CDs as well. You can also download audiobooks to the device of your choice through Alliance Digital Media Library, using your Galesburg Public Library card and the Libby app. Additionally, we have Playaway Views, which are pre-loaded videos to go. Some are complete books, while others are video collections of your favorite characters, or educational shows on a variety of topics. There’s also Launchpad tablets, which are filled with apps, games, and activities for all ages (even adults!).
In addition to these digital resources, we have books. Lots of books. So many books. You can lose yourself in a novel, or check out one of our *many* non-fiction books on traveling, camping, car games, jokes and riddles, and so much more. The Children’s Room staff will be happy to help you find just what you’re looking for.
