Galesburg Public Library’s Summer Reading program for all ages kicks off on Monday, June 6 and lasts for six weeks, ending on Friday, July 15. This year’s theme is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” We’ve got programs, prizes, and more for everyone from babies to adults, and participants can choose to join in the fun virtually or in person (or both!).
Did you know that the Galesburg Public Library has a summer reading program for adults? We do! Get a free book just for signing up. You can participate by using a paper log or online. Complete the reading goals and receive a prize and raffle tickets to win gift baskets. Receive extra raffle tickets for attending adult programs.
Teens aged 13 through 18 (or those entering 8th grade and up) are also invited to participate in this year’s teen summer reading program! Get a free book just for signing up, while supplies last. Read or listen to books and complete other challenges for entries to win one of our gift baskets, including book bundles and other prizes from our sponsors.
Children aged 0-12, you can earn big prizes just by keeping track of the time you spend reading or being read to. Reach your reading goals and you’ll receive prize coupons from our sponsors, a free book to keep, raffle tickets for our end-of-summer grand prize drawings, and more!
When you’re not busy reading, you can join us for a variety of fun summer activities, storytimes, nature programs, musical performances, group strolls through our Standish Park Storywalk, and more. All programs are free but some require registration in the Children’s Room.
Programs and presentations are available for teens and adults throughout the summer as well. Attend our free pre-Summer Reading kick-off event on Sunday, June 5, at 1:30 pm. Participate in a drum circle with Peoria Drum Circle, then at 3:00 pm watch a dynamic performance by Ayodele Drum and Dance.
