Pack the Blessing Box!

The Galesburg Public Library is collecting shelf-safe materials to fill the Blessing Box located near Broad & Simmons Streets.  What is a Blessing Box? Similar to the Little Free Library movement, it is a free and open location to donate goods for others to pick up anonymously.

“Take what you need, leave what you can” is the motto of this national phenomenon, with 17 boxes currently within the Galesburg city limits.
Bring your donations to the box located at the circulation desk now through December 29th and of course, everyone is welcome to contribute items directly into Blessing Boxes.

Ideas of what to put in a Blessing Box:

Food:  canned goods (pull tab open esp.), boxed meals, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, crackers, snack bars, beef sticks, pasta, sauces, fruit cups, juice boxes, popcorn
Personal Hygiene:  toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, wipes, hand soap, tampons, pads, toilet paper, etc.
Clothing:  mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, socks, hand warmers, small blankets for the colder months
Household Items:  dish soap, laundry soap, all-purpose cleaners, sponges, pens, pencils, school supplies, etc.
