There will also be a special session on Saturday, September 18, at 2:00 pm. Join us!
The Movie of the Book Club meets about once a month in the evening, usually at the Showplace 8, to see a new movie (with literary ties, if one is playing). We will next meet on Tuesday, September 21. The exact title and time will be announced the week before. We'll head to Perkins Restaurant afterwards for discussion. Newcomers welcome! If you would like to receive email updates about the club, please send an email message to reference@galesburglibrary.org. Click here for more information about the book and movie clubs.
Bird Documentary. An excellent PBS/BBC documentary about the life of birds will be shown at the library once a month for ten months. Each of the ten episodes is an hour long. The second episode will be shown Tuesday, September 28, at 6:30 pm. (And don't worry if you missed the first episode. They do not need to be watched in order.) Free!
Classic Book Club for Homeschoolers. Homeschooled teens age 12 and up are invited to join us at the library on the first Thursday of each month from 1:00-2:00 pm for a Classic Book Club. Downloadable Books. The library’s downloadable audio and e-book service is up and running. The Alliance Digital Media Library replaced My Media Mall. It has more than 40 participating public libraries in central Illinois and is a contracted service with OverDrive, Inc. Visit http://alliance.lib.overdrive.com to get started, or click here for more information.
Email notification. Would you like to receive email notification of an item waiting for you at the library instead of receiving a phone call? Add an email address to your library card account. You can do this yourself by logging in to your account with your library card number and personal identification number (PIN). Be sure you use an email address you check regularly; in the near future, anyone with an email address will only receive an email when holds are available and when items are overdue. Currently, we send an email and call you (if we have your phone number).
Library newsletter by email. The library publishes a newsletter each month. If you would like to receive an email message when the newest issue is available, please send an email to reference@galesburglibrary.org.
Tri-States Audio Information Services. Visually impaired, learning impaired and physically impaired patrons may be eligible for a free radio reading service through Western Illinois University. Applications may be found on the top of shelving in the audio books section of the library, or stop by the Reference Desk for assistance. You may also call the audio information service at 309-298-2403.
