Galesburg Public Library’s 2021 Summer Reading Program — Reading Colors Your World
Galesburg Public Library’s 2021 Summer Reading Program is for all ages. It begins on June 1 and runs through July 3. Registration opens on Monday, May 24. Readers of all ages may choose to either track their reading on paper using a traditional reading log, or online using Beanstack, an interactive online tool that helps families track their reading together.
Sign up to participate using a traditional paper reading log
Don’t have a device to use Beanstack, or just prefer a screen-free experience? No problem! We have paper reading logs available for readers of all ages, and library staff available to help every step of the way. Complete the form below to sign up for Summer Reading using a paper reading log. You can also sign up by stopping by the library or calling 309-343-6118.
Sign up using Beanstack
Using Beanstack to track your reading is simple and quick. Participants can easily keep track of their reading, activities, book reviews, and more. Notifications are sent when prizes have been earned, so library visits (or virtual visits) take place at your convenience!
Need some help getting started? Use our step-by-step guide to Getting Started with GPL’s Summer Reading Program using Beanstack. Beanstack is also available as a free and convenient app! Just search for Beanstack Tracker in the iTunes Store or Google Play Store.
Children’s Summer Reading Program
Children aged 0-12 (or those entering grade 7 and below), you’ll track the time you spend reading, earning prizes and raffle tickets along the way. All children, regardless of age, may choose between two different options:
“Read a Little” Rockstars: This option has a total reading goal of 6 hours over 5 weeks! Readers will earn a grand prize raffle ticket for each hour of reading, along with a free book when they reach 3 hours and a completion prize pack (containing a yard sign or drawstring bag and coupons from our sponsors) when they reach 6 hours.
“Read a Lot” Royalty: This option has a total reading goal of 12 hours over 5 weeks! Readers will earn a grand prize raffle ticket for every two hours of reading, along with a free book when they reach 6 hours and a completion prize pack (containing a yard sign or drawstring bag and coupons from our sponsors) when they reach 12 hours.
All children participating in Summer Reading will also receive a free lanyard when they sign up, and will have the opportunity to earn buttons to pin on it by reaching their reading goals and participating in library programs during the summer.
If you’re using Beanstack to participate this summer, you’ll see a full list of all the end-of-summer prizes once you’ve registered for the program. Check out our instructions for using Beanstack to log a child’s reading.

Teen Summer Reading Program
Teens aged 13 through 18 (or those entering 8th grade and up) are invited to participate in this year’s teen summer reading program! Read or listen to five books in five weeks to complete the program and earn raffle tickets for cool prize bundles with each book you finish! There are also additional activities you can complete for more tickets, so even if you don’t read all five books, you can still win big!

Adult Summer Reading Program
Did you know that the Galesburg Public Library has a summer reading program for adults? We do! Complete the program by reading five books in five categories by noon on July 3 (and no earlier than June 8). Complete your paper log and turn it in at the Reference Desk or complete your log online (at galesburglibrary.beanstack.org) to receive a $5 gift card donated by Innkeeper’s. Please pick up your prize at the Reference Desk by noon on July 3. Read your books in any order. For each book you read, you will also receive one paper or virtual raffle ticket towards gift baskets containing books, movie downloads, gift cards, and other prizes. You can redeem raffle tickets for the books you finish even if you do not read all five books. You may count any library book club book you read as a wildcard in any category. Would you prefer to track the time you read instead of the books? You can do that online at galesburglibrary.beanstack.org. Not familiar with Beanstack?
Prefer to participate using a traditional paper reading log? Complete the online form below and download your reading log, or stop by the library to register.
