Movie of the Book Club – Dune
OCTOBER’S SELECTION: Dune
Dune is a new adaptation of the classic science fiction Dune series by Frank Herbert. It is rated PG-13 and is 2.5 hours long.
The movie is showing at the AMC on Tuesday, 10/26 at 3:45 pm and 7:00 pm. You can attend either showing. Rather than meet at a restaurant after the 7:00 pm showing, we will meet at Culver’s at 5:45 pm. If you attend the earlier showing, you can come to Culver’s afterwards. You can share your thoughts (without spoilers!) and those going to the 7 pm showing can discuss expectations.
On 10/27 discussion questions about Dune will be posted in the Facebook GPL Online Discussion Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2599070423642738). If you see the movie at any time, please come post your opinions when you get a chance.
The movie group meets in the evening once a month on the third Tuesday to watch a new movie at the AMC Showplace or a newly released DVD at the library. The group sees movies based on books or otherwise connected to literature whenever possible.
A discussion at Culver’s on Henderson Street follows. Movie titles and times are announced about one week in advance, when the theater posts its upcoming schedule.
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the Movie Club’s email distribution list. Newcomers are always welcome! If you let library staff know in advance that you are attending for the first time, we’ll keep an eye out for you. Both the movie and the restaurant are pay-your-own-way.
